TPU print cost: price flexible parts without undercharging
TPU jobs often look expensive because the filament costs more, but the larger pricing risk is usually time and reliability: slower profiles, moisture control, extra handling and rejects can outweigh the material grams.

Material cost is the easy part
TPU material cost = consumed grams ÷ 1,000 × landed TPU price per kgAt the observed Bambu TPU 95A HF MSRP of USD 41.99/kg, a 120 g job consumes USD 5.04 of material before waste. At the observed PLA Basic MSRP of USD 19.99/kg, the same 120 g of PLA is USD 2.40, a USD 2.64 material gap. This comparison is only a cost baseline; it is not a recommendation to substitute PLA where flexibility is required.
Where TPU quotes go wrong

Example quote adjustment
Suppose a flexible bumper uses 120 g of TPU 95A HF at USD 41.99/kg, takes 4.5 print hours, requires 10 hands-on minutes, and has a 12% expected failure allowance. The material line is USD 5.04 before waste. If the same shop normally quotes a rigid PLA part from material alone, that quote misses the TPU-specific time, handling and reject risk.

Then compare it with a rigid-material scenario only after both are complete finished-part quotes.
