How should you price 3D prints for Etsy?
Start from the expected cost of a successful, packed item. Then solve for a price that can absorb the fees that actually apply to your shop and still leave the intended margin.
Do not copy a fee percentage from an old article
Etsy charges and payment arrangements can vary by country, currency, service and time. Review the current official Etsy fees policy and your own payment/account screens. Combine only the percentage-based charges in the calculator’s marketplace-fee field; treat flat listing, advertising, currency-conversion and other fixed charges separately.
Price from the denominator
price = expected unit cost ÷ (1 − percentage fees − target margin)If expected cost is USD 12, percentage fees are 12%, and the target margin is 30%, the result is USD 20.69. The expected percentage fee is USD 2.48 and contribution profit is about USD 6.21. This excludes any fixed charges or costs not entered.

Commercial rights come before the listing
Owning an STL file does not automatically grant permission to sell printed copies. Verify the designer’s current licence and retain evidence of commercial rights. Platform policy and intellectual-property compliance are separate from whether the unit economics work.
Use three scenarios
- Direct sale: lower payment/marketplace overhead.
- Normal marketplace sale: current standard fees for your shop.
- Higher-cost acquisition: include advertising or promotional cost.
If the product becomes unprofitable in the normal scenario, the answer is not automatically “sell more.” Rework the product, price, production method or channel.
